Albulena Shala

About

Prof. Assoc. Dr. Albulena Shala is a Doctor of Science in Banking and Finance and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Prishtina. She teaches Banking, Banking Management, FinTech, and Digital Finance at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. She is also a local instructor at CERGE-EI, teaching Ethics and Finance and Financial Markets.

Key Achievements and Outputs

She has led international student competitions, including “Best WI-FI 2023 Young Researcher Paper: FinTech Contest” and “Women in FinTech Datathon.” She has served on the organizational and scientific committees of major international conferences, including The Women in FinTech III Conference and The Women in FinTech and AI II Conference. She was also an organizer and a member of the Scientific Committee for the international conference “Economic Consequences of/in a Turbulent World.”


She served as Coordinator and Manager of the “DataSphere: A Comprehensive Database of Economic, Structural, and Social Indicators in Kosovo” project (https://datasphere.uni-pr.edu/). She was a key staff member on “Money Matters: Finance Habits and Economic Impact in Developing Countries.” She has acted as a member and external expert in COST Action CA19130 and is currently a board member of Banka Ekonomike Sh.A.

Research Interests

Her research focuses on fintech, banking, green finance, and digital transformation, with several publications in these areas. She has completed extensive professional training, including gender mainstreaming (UN Women Kosovo, 2025), pedagogical methods (CERGE-EI, 2018), digital transformation (House of Training, Luxembourg, 2022), EU project management (Riinvest & Horizon Europe, 2023), policy development (European Commission Joint Research Centre, 2023), doctoral supervision (ICTKES Erasmus, 2023), and green initiatives (Riinvest Institute, 2024).
